China on my mind

The title is a bit misleading, but I thought it would be appropriate for today's photo's. I packed two  boxes of china, to take with me to my garden. As soon as temperatures rise, the porcelain will be on it's way :-) Hopefully I will be able to host my first tea party in April, when I have a special birthday coming up.

Thank you for leaving such kind comments on my last post. I enjoyed reading about your gardens and the work you did. It seems I am not the only one, who can't wait to start digging :-)! I managed to do some garden work last Wednesday, which was bright and sunny in Rotterdam. At least, the morning was.

I cleaned up the last fallen leaves, did some pruning and smashed a glass pane of my greenhouse. It gave a huge crash. Luckily no one was harmed. I now know for sure, happiness must be on it's way. About time too! After I cleaned up the mess, I sat in the sun for a while, contemplating how on earth I am going to fix that glass pane....

Let's hope for some sun (no more rain and storm please) the coming week! Have fun!

  2. I love all those pretty colours Madelief, they remind me of warm summer days...
My garden is slowly waking but so so wet..wellington boots are a must!
Perhaps you can use a piece of perspex for your green house..
Hope you have a good week
    Thea xx

  3. Lieve Madelief,

    Heerlijke kleuren

Fijne avond lieve Madelief! X Pietrik

  6. Beautiful photos as always. I love your pretty china and your crochet garland but am sorry to hear of your broken glass panel. Hope you manage to fix it soon. xxx

  7. More loveliness to look upon! Blue and pink is my favourite colour combination (of course...!) Glad you are back in your garden, it will be a while before we can get back in ours, still so waterlogged, but luckily not as flooded as some areas of the UK.

  8. We are having summer weather in California just right for hosting one of your tea parties. Love your China - so lovely. Iam following you via Bloglovin and would love it if you follow my blog Notably Wonderful www.

  9. Oh yes please, some sun and warmth would be delicious. Can I ask what that plant with the pink flowers is? It's lovely. What a nuisance about the broken pane, I do hope it's not too hard to fix. I hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend.

    1. Hi CJ,

Sorry for my late reply. The plant in my photo's is called 'Lewisia'. I hope you will be able to find it!

      Have a lovely week!

      Madelief x

  10. Dear Madelief,

I am quite certain you will find some one to fix your window pane before the end of the week. How wonderful to see the garden beckoning! In the woodland by our villages there are carpets of wild snowdrops; a sight to behold!

Your pictures, as always, bring a ray of glorious sunshine into our lives, despite the heavy rainfall so many are enduring these days.

I am so sorry not to have responded to your lovely comment on my blog (which made me very happy) a couple of weeks ago, or written comments here. Our computer has been a little temperamental to say the least!

Enjoy the sunny spells this week, Madelief!

    A bientôt,

  11. It is so lovely to look at all this colour. Your tea-cups are so pretty and all your photographs so up-lifting. I, too, cannot wait for Spring to be outside with flowers and the warm sun on our backs. Won't be long. Hugs, Deb

  12. Oh! The beautiful, beautiful color!!! I just love it! But my brain cannot even get into gear about thinking about gardening - the ground is frozen hard under that deep blanket of white! I keep thinking that I need to order seeds at the beginning of March and I should get the order together, now, but I can't even imagine it or dream. I feel like I ought to stay in winter, somehow - to embrace it. Thinking of anything else might make me lose my patience with it all. All that to say.... I DO NEED the color!! This falls on my heart like spring rain and will do nicely! :)

And rambling on.... there's something so wonderful in February about color.... it's been all white outside for two months, now, and somehow.... somehow.... the white sets off the color in my mind and heart. Enhances it! I don't know if I'm expressing it very well but... it's in the contrast. With the cold outside, colorful tulips on my kitchen table are the height of luxurious beauty! :)

You've been busy!! Such pleasant work - puttering around and putting your garden in order! =) but, 'oh dear!' about the window!! =/ But, then, the thought of you sitting in your garden and soaking up the sun gives me a huge smile - such a happy thing!!! =)

Oh. But there's one other thing that I've just realized... I can't even begin to contemplate my garden but I HAVE been contemplating tea parties in my garden! =) Not in April, though - that would be so chilly and probably soggy, too! ;) June!! In June! ;)

Have a restful and happy Sunday, dear friend!! =)

  13. Wat maak jij toch prachtige foto's! Word r helemaal blij van! XX Esther

  14. Lovely cheerful photos Madelief. It won't be long until garden times. Sorry about your greenhouse pane, it is so easily done, we did it here too but it is easily fixed as well!

  15. Hoi Madelief,
    Lieve groet,

  16. Hello Madelief, many thanks for your visit and kind words. I think that things may have worked out better for my daughter than if she had passed her exam, she will now be going to a smaller school, which has very good results, so fingers crossed. Sorry about your greenhouse, we had panels blow out of ours too, but they are not glass but plastic, I am not sure how we will get them back in either!
Your china, as usual is so pretty, I especially love the one with anemone's on it.
Your new photo is wonderful, you look great young! Enjoy the rest of your weekend, love Linda x

  17. When I opened your page my friend, the pop of color gave me an instant rush of happiness. While I sit here with snow falling outside, I am extremely happy in the middle of winter. Why? Hope. Hope is the seed that's right under those feet of snow in my garden, and in April when you have your tea party, our snow will start to melt. Spring will come again.

What FANTASTIC PHOTOS OF LOVE! Hugs to you! Anita

  18. Dearest Madelief,
Your photos are incredible and even more so your feeling for color combinations in different materials. Let's hope that in about two weeks we will be on our way to real spring.

  19. Great looking photos...the colors are so outstanding!!!

  20. Your beautiful, bright colors are so welcome on a dreary February day, Dear Madelief! I am sorry about your broken pane, but glad you were not hurt! I do hope someone comes to your rescue and offers to fix it for you. A tea party in the garden sounds wonderful. Only a few more weeks until Spring - I am counting the days. We have some early trees budding out and the daffodils are coming up. Thank you for bringing such cheerfulness to our day! Hugs xo Karen

  21. Dear Madelief, the photos are beautiful! Love your blog:) Hugs, Manuela

  22. I love all your pretty colors~ your photos are very sharp and clear.I was telling my mother today that you already have flowers blooming in your garden. We are supposed to get over 30 cm. of snow tonight with wind.
I hope some kind person will fix the window for you but in the mean time enjoy dreaming of the April garden tea party. We might still be digging out from under the snow.

    Take care,

  24. Madelief, we had yet another snow fall this afternoon and evening in NYC. Yet it was much lighter than what fell and coated our streets, sidewalks and even those beautiful park spaces mid-week. So...we do fill our hopeful heads with dreams of spring.

What you show us here in flowers and china help to feed this hope. I think that you will be able to get that greenhouse pane mended or repaired soon? Hope is a word that again comes to play.

It's grand to see such cheery colors here and to know that we will be seeing nature start her annual show in a few weeks. Hope so!

  25. That , beyond any doubt, is the prettiest primrose plant I have ever seen. I can't wait to fill all my pots and mantle with them! Its such a cheery , positive post and oh that china! Just can't get enough of it!

  26. Heerlijke post, het fleurt mijn zondagmorgen.
    Lieve groet, Renny

  28. Beautiful spring-like photos! Lovely flowers and beautiful china, your photos are works of art!
Lets hope for some more sunny days soon and time spent pottering in the garden!
    Gill xx

  29. Dag Madelief,

  30. At first I thought that you must be heading off to the other side of the world.
What a joy to see the brilliant sunshine today and to contemplate the garden again.
Hope you do not have too much of a problem replacing your broken glass.

  31. Lieve Madelief,

    Liefs, Gerry

  35. Deine frischen Bilder beschwören den Frühling herbei.
    Wunderschön so Farbenfroh.

  39. I know I cannot wait to get to the garden either! We have started seeds inside and to see them sprouting up a little more each day has me aching for spring!
    have a great day Madelief!

    Fijne avond/week!
    Liefs Helena

  42. Dearest Madelief,
the combination of flowers, porcelain and beautiful fabrics is magical!
Thank you so much for your sweet words! Yes, I really hope I can manage it to meet you one day. Today we called a friend in Germany (she lost her husband at 17th January), and I told her some words about you... and also told her that it would be nice to see her again and to meet you and some blogfriends in Germany, too - and she said (in a kind of black humor) that we could make a tour through Germany and the Netherlands to meet and to comfort friends ... Well, it's just a question of finding time... ;o))
    Warm hugs to you,

  43. Your china is so pretty. I could look at your photos for hours, so many pretty things to see! I hope the greenhouse glass isn't too hard to fix. I'm glad to know you are in good spirits. I look forward to hearing more about your birthday tea party!

  45. Dear Madelief,
We also have a lot to do in the garden, as it is impossible with all the rain and storms we are having here too. Yesterday, we had a little sun shine and I was glad to sit outside and drink my coffee under the sun!
I wish you a good week too. See you soon.

  46. What fun to be able to take china to your garden. I look forward to watching it grow.
    xo Jen

  52. That is funny. When I read your text, I realized the title could have been taken that you were thinking of the country but I never even thought of that. I knew your post would be about pretty china pieces. You live your life with such color and flair and you surround yourself with all things lovely. Your photography is amazing. The flower pictures from previous posts are gorgeous. I love the sunshine through the delicate petals.
Can't wait to see your upcoming tea party.

  61. Darling Madelief,

Here we are just peeking in at the end of this wonderfully vibrant post and a bouquet of comments to say how much we have missed your charming blog and all the joys it brings into our lives.

You have such an artistic eye for colour and you combine the china and textiles in such an imaginative and exciting way. And, your ability to capture this in your wonderful photographs is a talent indeed. We have been busy reading back and note that you have embarked upon a photography course.....what fun! And, your garden is already bursting forth with new life. We are so looking forward to seeing it when we visit. Cannot wait!

Hoping you and the girls are all well. It was so lovely to receive your welcome back comment. It really did feel as if we were being embraced by your family and that is so nice. All love, J and L xx
