Tulip time in the garden

This post is actually a week late, but I so wanted to show you the sweet bunches of pastel coloured spring flowers last time, that I thought this one could wait. I hoped the tulips would still be in bloom today, but when I arrived at the allotment at the end of the afternoon, I saw the last petals fall to the ground... Too bad! So my title tulip time in the garden is really no longer appropriate, but I kept it anyway, as I am still showing you the flowers!

At this time of year, it's difficult to keep up with what's going on in the garden. It all goes so fast. Flowers come and go, and so are the weeds. If it hadn't been for the help of my daughters and sweet friends, my little piece of paradise wouldn't look the way it does now.

As soon as the water supply was on, my friend Wilma (thank you so very much xox) helped me clean the garden house and outdoor kitchen. Which is a horrendous task. Your always covered in dirt when finished, and you never know what you may encounter while cleaning. Fortunately no mice, or worse, rats, this year, only spiders. Lots of them! We did a good job though. Hopefully I can show you some photo's of our reinstalled and spotlessly clean outdoor kitchen next week.

Thank you too for your sweet comments on my blog. It's always a joy to read them and to now what you have been up to in your garden.

Wishing you a happy week!

Madelief x

A selection of the tulips on my blog are: Menton, Apricot beauty, Purple Prince, Flaming Flag.

  1. It sounds like a very productive day! Lucky you, to have a friend who is there for the nasty jobs as well as the fun. I look forward to seeing your garden as it unfolds again.

  3. Such beautiful photos. One of my very favorite things of Spring is to see the tulips. They are so pretty in all their colours. You captured them so well, Madelief. Deb

  5. Dear Madelief, I am so grateful to you for giving us one more glimpse of your 2016 garden's tulips. My favorite picture is the overhead view of the rosy and magenta tulips. The centers of the magenta blooms seem to have a blue hue...very beautiful. I don't think I've ever before noticed such a tulip coloration.

Bravo to you and all your garden assistants to facing the darker side when cleaning up your garden house and getting the outdoor kitchen ready for the new season. I guess it's a matter of taking a deep breath, getting down to work, and always knowing you can eventually have a bath and a cup of tea.

    More flowers will follow! xo

  29. Dearest Madelief,
may I borrow your girlfriend Wilma? ;o)) I could also need help in the garden - and she looks so cheerful! :O) It's great that she and your daughters so diligently help you! Your garden is really a splendor - even when the tulips are already faded. Here the tulips-bloom is over, too and I look forward to the next blossom dreams!
    Lots of hugs, my dear!

  33. Gorgeous tulips Madelief! Such bounty in your garden, a delightful haven of tranquillity. Love your garden posts, they are so inspiring. Happy week for you. Sharon

  34. Wat is het toch genieten in jouw tuin. Volgens mij moet je elke keer, als je de tuin binnenstapt, even stil staan en in je arm knijpen om zeker te zijn dat het echt is...
    Fijne dag,

  35. Such lovely photos and flowers. Sometimes we have to look quick because flowers don't last long. Your beautiful photos do help to preserve them a bit longer. Very pretty.

  36. Blir så glad av att titta un på alla dina fina blomster bilder.
    Ha en fin helg!

  37. Your garden looks so beautiful and the tulips.... I'm sure that they're even prettier in person than in the pictures. That's what I've found with mine, anyway. I was amazed that I had any, since, I've been digging the whole garden up after it being neglected for two years because of the operations. I know that I dug an awful lot of bulbs up and just stuck them back in and.... voila! Here they are again, this year. I'm so happy to see them again! :) Yesterday, it was really warm and most of them have shriveled up. Yes! It goes way too fast and it sort of breaks my heart.

    Happy gardening!! :)

Thank you for your lovely words.
