Haute Couture and a beautiful pillow

It feels good to be back again. A short break really works wonders! I have done some reading, made an apron out of vintage fabric and worked in our garden. It gives so much energy! Last weekend my husband, eldest daughter and I went to the Gemeentemuseum in The Hague, to see an exhibition of haute couture, called 'Voici Paris'.
The exhibition takes you through the history of 'Haute Couture' and features top examples of 20th century fashion design. The earliest exhibit dates from 1901. There are beautiful dresses on display by Dior, Balenciaga, Givenchy, Gaultier and also from more contemporary fashion designers like Alexander van Slobbe and Dries van Noten. Not only the clothes were very worthwhile, the setting was beautiful too. The dress with the bright pink coat (photo 14) was worn by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's. Ohhhh if only I could wear one of these dresses........

Now the pillow comes in.........yesterday I received the giveaway I won at Sisterly. With a picture I sent Hannie of my parents in their younger days, she made a beautiful pillow! My mum and dad, who were spending the day with us, unwrapped the parcel. They were so happy with it! Dear Hannie thank you so much again!!!  I wish you could have seen their faces! What a great giveaway to win :-)! Hannie has a webshop where she sells pillows, brocante and all kind of wonderful things. Please have a look at her blog.

A happy and sunny weekend to you all! We are off to Antwerp tomorrow and next week to Maastricht with my mum. Bye for now!

Lieve groet, Madelief

Wow!Wow!Wow!

  3. I would have loved it there, There are a couple of dresses I'd love to own!!!

    The pillow is pretty.

Lucky girl going to Maastricht, I don't go there as often as I used to. I used to go there 2 or 3 times a year when my Belgian Grandmother & Aunt were still alive.

    Have fun

    Take care

  14. Thank you for your lovely comment. I forgot to ask, did you ever go to a tea room called Chez Duchateau? You may be too young to remember, I'm not sure of your age. I went there several times in the 70s and 80s and less in the 90s.I always went there and had apricot, prune or cherry tart with cream on and would drink a Hero Cassis! Sadly the family business closed around 8 or 10 years ago now. It wasn't far from the Market place. Who knows, maybe our paths have crossed at some point.
Have a great time, market day tomorrow I believe. I like the sound of the bells when you walk around the market.

    Take care

  18. Dear Madelief

Thanks for your visit....I studied the psychology of purple and it is very interesting. Kings and queens wore purple robes and purple is therefore associated with wealth, prosperity and rich sophistication.
