Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

It was such a lovely day today! When I woke up this morning, I could see from the light shining through the curtains, that there was snow outside. I was one of the first to go outside. Not only because of the snow, but mostly because I start work at a quarter past seven. What a beautiful, still world it was. So special to hear your own footsteps! Even in town you could hardly hear the noise of the trains and cars.

I took a break from work, to take some pictures when the sun was coming up.  It was fabulous to see Schiedam waking up; the snow, the old houses and lanterns, the Christmas decorations. The pictures may be familiar to you, but with a layer of snow everything looks different. When this post is finished I will finally write my Christmas cards. I have been postponing it because it's such a huge job. I also have to make some preparations for the birthday of my eldest daughter. She will be twenty tomorrow! I wish you all a lovely evening!

  6. Dear Madelief,

your pictures are so gorgeous. The first one looks like taken from a Disney Christmas movie !
I didn´t know that windmills are located in "downtown", I always thought they are standing lonesome in the middle of no-where ;-)

Congratulation to your daughter ! 20? Godess, my niece will become 18 in March and I still see her as a child. This reminds me always of doing things I´ve always wanted to do and never had the right time for it. See how fast time passes by. Just do it now ! Have I mentioned that I will do a little new years break ? Maybe at the Cote D´Azur, but it´s not sure yet. I will let you know and wish you and your family a very pieceful and wunderful weekend !
    Lieve groet, Eve

Everything looks so pretty with some snow at Christmas, doesn't it.Fun to get snow pictures.
I didn't realize there are windmills in the towns,I thought they were out in the country.
Happy Birthday to your daughter. We had a Christmas baby too- our Emily was born on the 27th of Dec.-can't believe she will be 26 already.
    Enjoy your weekend,

  9. Oh Madelief,
what a beautiful area that you live and work in. The canals, the windmill and the pretty little streets. .... and the covering of snow makes it even prettier.
We have just come back from London where we went out to dinner with my daughter, my son and our daughter-in-law. It is my daughter-in-law's 30th birthday today. When we came out of the restaurant there was quite a lot of snow, and when we hot back home, there was even more !!!! I love it, especially at Christmas time. XXXX

  10. Dear Madelief, I hope that your daughter has a fabulous birthday tomorrow! Time sure flies by quickly. Your photos are so unique looking, and I love seeing the snow on the windmills. Snow gives a different light to everything even though you have seen it before it looks more special with snow!!! They have hinted around that we "may" have snow on the 24th. I think I'll believe that one when I see it!
Wish your daughter from me a very happy day tomorrow. Enjoy!
    Take Care!
