Antwerp, final part

Today I will show you my last few pictures of Antwerp. I really love that city! Until now the pictures were made in the less touristic parts of town. However, the more touristic areas are worth visiting as well; the Rubens house, the old market, de Zoo, the central park and the districts Het Zuid and Het Eilandje. A walk through the Kloosterstraat with its Antique and brocante shops or the Nationalestraat with it expensive but also cheaper vintage clothing is worthwhile! I also enjoy walking through the Jewish quarters. It has quite a special atmosphere. We paid a visit to the 'Fotomuseum' where we saw an exhibition of pictures made by Flemish amateur photograhpers during the interbellum (period between the first and second world war). At first we wanted to go to the museum of modern art (Mukha), but unfortunately it was closed. But...we didn't only do cultural things. We also enjoyed the nice terrases, the delicious food at the Wagamama and 'De broers van Julienne' and we did some serious shopping! Our youngest daughter wanted to visit the English store 'Urban outfitters', which you can't find in Holland. And her mother...... well, she wanted to see some shops as well (Cos, Rue Blanche, Bellerose, Noa Noa, Zadiq and Voltaire, APC... and very important 'Leonidas').

  5. Dear Madelief, it sounds like all of you had a very fine trip - and the photos show us a beautiful and worth seeing city, too! I also want to thank you very much for your two nice comments and to say sorry that I needed such a long time to answer you. (I've had a terrible stressy week...)
Oh yes, Saalbach and Kaprun are fine places in Austria, I also have been there for skiing - and I am sure you will love Vienna. There is so much history and culture (and more) to see in every corner!
I think it is good that you are not able to throw Pinocchio away - please keep it forever (or perhaps sometime you will give it to other little children who love the story of the wooden boy...)
    Hugs & Groetjes van Traude
