Man at work

It's been three weeks since I last posted and left comments. Sorry about that!  It's huge fun having  a boyfriend, but I never realised he would take up so much of my time;-). I am not complaining though, oh no :-). I am enjoying myself far too much.

But as I missed the garden, taking photo's and sharing them with you, I decided to take the man with me and put him to work (he kindly offered :-). While he cut the grass,  I picked some flowers and the last tomatoes, and emptied the greenhouse.

There are still a few tasks to do, like closing off the gas supply, planting tulip bulbs and emptying my outdoor kitchen, but it won't be long before I close my garden house for winter. I will miss my little piece of paradise, but I am happy as well to spend more time indoors and get ready for Christmas.

Freezing, but so pretty!

It's the time of year to start thinking of spring and which bulbs to plant in the garden. I am late. The thing is: I haven't got a clue. My mind is blank, my inspiration zero. This doesn't happen to me often. It's all the 'fault' of a kind and gentle man I met a few weeks ago, who fills my head with dreams and takes up a lot of my time ;-). It's still early days, but there is the promise of something good!

As I do want my garden to look lovely in spring, I thought I would be a good idea to have a look at the photo's of the spring gardens I visited over the years. I hoped they would stir up my grey cells a little, and they did!

This years visit to Sissinghurst, on a freezing day at the end of April, proved to be a source of inspiration. The garden looked absolutely enchanting. Although we still have autumn and winter to enjoy, the photo's make me wish it was spring already :-) It's all so pretty. Hope they will inspire you too!

Vintiguing in Antwerp

This post is long overdue. Sorry you had to wait such a long time for it to appear. I have been on a short holiday with my parents, and on a long weekend to Antwerp, one of my favourite towns in the Benelux.  It's only an hours drive from Rotterdam, and such a different world. It's hip, it's classy, the food is better, the clothes are finer and the people much more relaxed. My late husband and I used to visit regularly, to see an exhibition, do some shopping or just walk around town and enjoy the good life.

It was four years ago since I visited last. I thought it would be difficult being there, but somehow the town got me in it's grip. I enjoyed it just as much as I did before. It helped that I was in the company of two sweet friends who live in Antwerp during the weekend and showed me around town.

As they are just as keen on vintage clothing as I am, and now the best shops in town, I came home with two new winter outfits: an amazing turquoise jacket, two sweet hats, a copper sunburst necklace and an antique priests stole, which I use as a belt. I customized the jacket and belt a little, but furthermore the outfits are ok and look fab. 

For those of you who are interested  in the names of the shops I discovered my treasures: Think twice, the Kringwinkel and the Oxfam store.
