Last year I invited several ladies I know through Instagram, for a tea in my garden. One of them was Ella.
Ella and her friends Suus and Lenny own a colourful shop in the town centre of Gouda, called Juffrouw Saartje.
They sell vintage items, toys, cards, porcelain, books and many more products to colour your life happy.
At the party a friend and I promised we would come and see the shop for ourselves. Last week we finally did. You can see the photo's below. Ella and Suus, thank you once again for your warm welcome and the delicious tea.
My friend and I combined our visit with a city walk. We walked along the canals, visited several courtyard houses and the area around the St Janskerks (St Johns church). What an impressive town it is. If you are interested in medieval architecture, there are some fine examples of medieval buildings, like the town hall, to be seen.
The above photo's were partly taken at Altijd, a beautiful vintage and antique shop in the same street as Juffrouw Saartje (Wilhelminastraat).
For more information, please click on the names of the shops.
Before I wish you a happy week, I would like to thank you for your sweet comments on last weeks post.
Love,
Madelief x
Let me see if my Dutch is good....that first plaque, does it say, "LIFE IS PROFOUND?" Either way, the colors are rich in this amazingly charming part of YOUR WORLD, Madelief! How I long to go here and to hear your language, to see the narrow streets and canals that have seen, heard and transported many an ordinary and famous person.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenBlessings to you my dear! Thank you for the lovely colors of your world.
How fun that you went on that trip and saw so many wonderful things! I saw several things in your photos that I'd want to snap up. Did you buy many things to bring home? Thanks for sharing your wonderful world. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhat a lovely, colourful post. I am so in need of colour these days. :) Have a wonderful week, Madelief.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThat was a beautiful stroll through town. Thank you for the glimpses of architecture and beautiful vintage and new things to tempt us! It sounds like you had a lovely day with your friends.
What a wonderful shoppe...we didn't spend too much time in Gouda but will have to check it out on our next visit. I always love my visits to your Blog... take care.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHugs,
Wanda
Liefs, Gerry
What fun to spend time having tea and looking at such whimsical items in the shop. The street views are lovely examples of Dutch architecture and I've enjoyed meandering along via your photos.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhat a beautiful place Madelief. I went through it three times, just to enjoy all the architecture as well as the sweet collectables and antiques. The first building is amazing, not sure if that is Town Hall or a Church, but it is very unique and gorgeous. The tea table looks cute in the middle of that shop, and it looks like a wonderful time to be had by all. xx
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHet staat op mijn to do list! Leuke inpressie van Gouda. Groetjes Hetty
BeantwoordenVerwijderenstunning architecture and my kind of shop. What a lovely day out!

BeantwoordenVerwijderenMadelief, I agree that having color in our lives is very welcome.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenGouda looks like such a charming place, full of intriguing architecture. From your photographs, it also seems as if it's a fine place to explore on foot. (I wondered how drivers actually park their cars along the canals!
The shops look very intriguing with their cheering colors.
I'm very glad that you took your camera along on your visit. xo
Juffrouw Saartje staat op mijn wensenlijstje. Helaas een beetje ver weg. Dank je wel voor de foto's! XX Esther
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWe visited Gouda many years ago with the children when we were travelling on holiday to Germany. It was market day and the square was full of stalls and Gouda cheese. The shops you visited are lovely, it must have been a wonderful day out! Sarah x
BeantwoordenVerwijderenBeautiful pictures of beautiful things and places here, Madelief! I would like to be there too and buy some of those lovely vintage pieces! How wonderful the medieval buildings are, just like stepping back through the centuries. Thank you for sharing.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHave a happy sunny week.

Lovely to come along with you on your shopping trip, Madelief! Such a charming village and wonderful shops. I love all the pretty scenery and wish I could take home some of those sweet vintage and baby things. I love the apartments along the canal :) Sending hugs xo Karen
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDearest Madelief,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenGouda is such a lovely city! We were once on a boat, for a wedding in that lovely medieval city.
Your friends do have a very unique shop and how fitting in Gouda where so much culture and history is available.
Love your photos; what a special visit you made and thanks for sharing this with your readers.
Hugs,
Mariette
Gouda looks a delightful medieval town with so many fascinating little corners in which to explore.

Oh how I do hope to visit your wonderful country one day dearest Madelief; while hoping to one day meet you, I also have a wonderful "zuster" out there with whom I've blogged with for many years. What a lovely culture you have, one of colours, hope of spring beauty, a beautiful language, masterpieces both artistic and in the wonderful people I've encountered. THANK YOU so much for visiting my blog and I was CLOSE on the Dutch translation! XOXOX
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDear Madelief,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenSuch a charming village and so many gorgeous homes and shops. Must be a wonderful place to wander around along the canals. Love the antique shops and all the gorgeous merchandise.
Hope you are enjoying the week
hugs
Carolyn
BeantwoordenVerwijderenFijne dag, lieve groet,
I would really love to follow you around! The shop is charming and the city wonderful.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenDearest Madelief,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenthe images you brought from your visit to Gouda are beautiful. Although I love the cheese of the same name, I've never been in the city. A big fat mistake as I can see now. Especially the medieval, colorful house signs are fantastic! I would love to stroll through the old streets on a calm spring-day and take lots and lots of pictures, go to the stores and browse through a little bit ... (sigh!) As you can see, I have been too long not traveling. (Since September!) Now you've made me travel-yearning ... ;o))
Lots of hugs and a Happy Easter-time,
Traude
De titelspreuk past volgens mij heel goed bij jou: colour your life happy!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenWhat a wonderful, colorful shop! The town also looks like it would be a delight to walk through.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenHa, grappig om mijn geboorte stad weer eens zo in mooie foto's te zien.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIk ben er as zaterdag weer en ga ook zeker even naar Juffrouw Saartje.
