Vintage treasures

On request, some of the vintage treasures I brought home with me from England and Hungary, mixed with Dutch flea market and thrift store finds.

To me collecting porcelain is about mix and match. Combining Wedgwood with Royal Albert, Huttl Tivadar, Gainsborough, Colclough, Herend and Royal Stafford. I think combining patterns and colours, in a certain colour scheme, add to the beauty of the cups and plates. I have to admit that I only do this in my garden :-). When at home it's mostly blue & white.

The flowers on the mantelpiece come from my garden: Lady's Mantle, tiny wild white roses, Nepeta six hill giant, digitalis & pink wallflower.

Have a lovely day!

Madelief x

  3. Hello Madelief:
We are such copyists!! For, since your visit, we are totally embracing the mixture of different pieces and makes of china which you show here as, we feel, being so much more interesting that having everything to match [although your blue and white sounds wonderful].

You really do have a superb collection of different cups and saucers and they look so attractive together as you show them here. Also, amongst it all
we spot your fluted glass dish [which we should have spied first!!] and the two Russian soldiers which fit perfectly where you have placed them.

We plan a further trip to Pál utca to scoop up, we hope, the remainder of the Herend plates which we have now identified as being between 1914 and 1920. And will there be coffee?!!

    Fijne dag vandaag ☼

  27. Please can you tell me if there is a name on the bottom of the forst cup in the blog? I would give away half of my own china to own that!! Your pictures are so crisp and clear, I often spend a few mins of my lunch break looking at them to cheer me up and take me out of the office to my garden and a hot cup of tea and bees in my flowers................

  45. Hello Madelief

Those cups are just beautiful and no doubt a cup of tea of coffee tastes so much better when served. My late father always insisted on a china cup and the finer the china they more he admired it. The blue and white is also beautiful.

    Have a great week
