China cabinet

In one of my last posts I promised to show you the second hand china cabinet I found on Marktplaats (sort of an auction site like Ebay) recently. Well, here it is! It fits into our dining room perfectly and looks as if it has always been there. One of the advantages of having a big cabinet is, that you can stack heaps of china inside :-)! Today a 'blue selection'. From Staffordshire chintz ware, vintage glass, Moroccan earthenware to porcelain from St Petersburg in Russia.

Our old cabinet went to the garden house. This means that the cabinet I had in the garden house, has to go. If you are interested, please let me know. You can see a photo in this post.

I also promised to show you the apron I finished recently. It looks bright, cheerful and a perhaps a bit too much, but I like it!

Bottles & Clothes

 
While visiting the Ikea recently, I came upon a beautiful glass dressing table set. I fell in love with it immediately! I simply had to show you. It's made of blue, pink and brownish glass and looks like it was made at the beginning of the last century. At a time when woman had bottles like these on their dressing table, filled with the most exquisite perfumes.

I show you part of my collection of bottles & trinket boxes. The brown bottles were once my grandmothers. They have a special place on my dressing table. The pink and white toiletry set was made by Laura Ashley in the 80s and given as a wedding present. I found the blue & white trinket box on a fleamarket in Rye years ago. It is made by Mason's and decorated with a light blue rose.

I found the light green tunic and soft pink cardigan in the sale recently. I love the romantic look of it.

The very pink of perfection

To me pink is to me one of the best colours there is. It's the colour of candyfloss, the roses in our garden, breathtaking sunsets and my favourite floral teacups. The last couple of months I collected the pictures I show you today. Just to inspire me. I hope they do the same to you!

Belle's room

Vandaag laat ik jullie een paar foto's zien van de kamer van mijn jongste dochter Annebelle. Zoals jullie kunnen zien houd zij erg van lila! Belle heeft een heerlijke zonnige kamer vol vrolijke kleuren. Het grote schilderij op de bovenste foto heb ik een jaar of drie geleden zelf gemaakt. Het was een hele klus, maar Belle & ik zijn er erg blij mee. Ik schilder nog steeds graag, maar doordat ik andere dingen ook leuk vind, zoals bloggen, koken en fotograferen, gun ik mij nauwelijks nog de tijd om te schilderen. Op het moment heb ik een enorm schilderij achter het gordijn in de woonkamer staan dat ik nog af moet maken....... misschien in de zomervakantie..... Het schilderij dat hieronder in het mozaik staat afgebeeld is geschilderd door mijn vader. Ons  huis hangt vol met zijn felgekleurde werken. Zo handig om een vader te hebben die schildert! :) Binnenkort laat ik jullie meer van zijn werk zien.

Today I show you some pictures of Annebelle's room. Belle is my youngest daughter. As you can see she likes purples and lilacs. She has a sunny room full of bright colours. The large painting on the first picture was made by me a few years ago. It was a lot of work, but Belle and I enjoy looking at it very much. I still paint, but because I enjoy singing, blogging, gardening and other things as well, I can hardly find time. There is a huge painting standing behind the curtains in our living room, that I still have to finish...Hopefully in 2010! The painting you can see in the mosaic was made by my father. His paintings are simply beautiful! It's so handy to have a father who can make such beautiful things! When I visit the loft where he paints and I see something that I like, I just have to mention it and its mine! Our house is filled with his colourful work! I will show you some more of his paintings soon.

Happy New Year!

Allemaal een mooi, gezond en creatief 2010! Leuk om na een korte pauze weer terug te zijn in blogland. Tussen het bakken van de tulband en de koekjes door heb ik jullie blogs zo nu en dan toch gevolgd. Ik kon het gewoonweg niet laten..... Ik hoop dat jullie gezellige dagen hebben gehad?! Voor ons was het vooral een familiefeest. We hebben met z'n allen de cadeautjes uitgepakt die onder de kerstboom lagen en samen gegeten. Verder had ik heerlijk de tijd om allerlei klusjes in huis te doen, bordspelletjes te spelen met mijn man en dochters en een bezoekje te brengen aan een museum. Ook heb ik aan mijn huiswerkopdracht gewerkt voor een opleiding die ik voor mijn werk volg. Wat heerlijk dat ik daar eindelijk mee klaar ben, pffff! Mijn 'to do' lijstje is nagenoeg leeg. Wat een heerlijk gevoel om zo het nieuwe jaar in te gaan!

A Happy New Year to you all! I hope it will be a year full of love, happiness, health and creativity and a good year for blogging too. It's good to be back. In between baking a tulband and preparing my Christmas dinner I now and then looked at your blogs. It's difficult not to do so :) I hope you all had a good time. Like most of you, Christmas to us is about family. We opened up the presents that had been placed under the tree and had a lovely Christmas dinner together. I spent the days between Christmas and the New Year with my husband and girls. I did some chores in the house, played board games with the girls and visited a museum. I also did my homework, for a course I take for my work. I am so happy it is finally done ...pfff. My 'to do list' is a lot more empty. What a great feeling to start the new year with!
